The MUW competency test consists of 80 multiple-choice questions in reasoning and critical thinking in premedical sciences. The test verifies the candidate’s knowledge of high school level biology and chemistry as well as analytical skills and ability to solve problems logically. The test does not require special teaching or preparation.
The competecy test sessions during the admission process for the academic year 2024/25 will be held online.
Note:
Candidate can sit the Medical University of Warsaw competency test ONLY ONCE per recruitment cycle.
Candidate must pay the application fee to sit the competency test.
The competency test consists of 80 questions divided into 3 sections. The maximum score is 100 points:
Biology – 30 questions (1 question = 1 point)
Chemistry – 30 questions (1 question = 1 point)
Decision Making (analytical skills and ability to solve problems logically) – 20 questions (1 question = 2 points)
You can navigate freely between sections and questions during the test. You will receive an email three days before the scheduled test date with a link to the trial test.

1. Trial test is open just after you will receive an email and will be available for three days. Please, enter the trial test, familiarise yourself with test navigation . This test is not graded.
2. The competency test is available at the specific date for several hours. The hours are given according to GMT. You will find the time ranges in the email. You may take the test at a time of your choosing.

Online Competency Test Requirements and Organisation
Online Test Requirements:
1. Using a computer or laptop with a camera. The exam cannot be taken via mobile phone or tablet.
2. Installation of the appropriate Internet browser: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
3. Having a stable internet connection at home. Here, the problem is that options with access via a mobile network do often not provide opportunities to maintain a proper data flow. Meanwhile, the exam will last 100 minutes plus organisational issues. Therefore, a stable connection for at least 2 hours is required.
Online Test Organisation:
1. A few days before the test:
Please prepare the necessary documents, photo, check your payment in the ORS.
a. Each candidate should upload a scan of the passport to the ORS.
Before the online Competency Test, you will be asked to show your passport for verification. The document should be the same as in the ORS.
b. Check the payment in the ORS – only candidates who paid the application fee may sit the exam.
c. We will use your photo uploaded to the ORS for identification.
Each candidate is required to add a recent photo.
Read in the ORS the photo requirements carefully. Check if the photo in the ORS is of good quality and have been taken correctly.
d. Check if you have selected the date of the Competency Test in the ORS.
2. Check your online account and emails regularly for information and updates.
Two days before the competency test, you will get an email from the examination platform with links:

a. Test your operating system on Thursday or Friday.
Prepare your computer for the exam. You will receive guidance as you test your system.
Important – the test is running smoothly only on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
b. Take a trial test.

c. The button to start the Competency Test will allow you to start the test on your chosen day.
Check the opening times of the test in your time zone. The test is available for several hours. The hours are given according to GMT.
Plan your day: You choose the exact time you want to take the test.
d. Print out the Periodic Table.
3. On the day the test is taken:
a. Choose a quiet and peaceful place.
b. Read the competency test rules carefully. All the information therein are deemed given and binding.
c. Remember or note your ORS ID number. You may check it in the Main panel of the ORS.
d. Prepare your passport – same as stored in the ORS.
e. Prepare the printout of the formulas and Periodic Table provided by the University. You may use these documents during the test. If you want to use it – remember to show it to the camera.
f. Prepare a white sheet of paper and a pen or pencil to make notes. At the beginning of the test, you must show the paper sheet to the webcam. You will have to destroy your notes afterwards.
g. Start the online competency test.

Online Competency Test Rules
1. The entire test duration will be recorded and monitored by the Admissions Board, which reserves the right to invalidate your test if there is suspicion of test fraud.
2. You must be alone, in a quiet and well-lit space. You are not allowed to talk or sing during the test. Your face should be visible during the whole exam and must be well lit. You must be facing the camera, i.e. the camera must not be positioned to the side, too low or too high to record only part of your face.
3. You must not wear any headphones during the exam. You cannot wear a mask or dark glasses during the exam. You must not wear hoods or hats during the exam unless worn daily for a religious purpose.
4. You are not allowed to stand up during the test (in other words, you are not allowed to take toilet breaks). Any disturbing movements will result in the invalidation of your test.
5. You cannot use a calculator, cell phone, tablet, MP3 player, or other electronic devices.
6. You are allowed to use the cell phone only if contacting the test administrator in case of technical problems during the test. Before making the call, you must show your cell phone to the webcam and state that you are calling the test administrator.
7. You cannot use any aids or consult resources like textbooks, written notes, etc.
8. You must be on the examination page throughout the entire exam. Any attempt to navigate, go outside the exam page, or open other websites or bookmarks in your browser is recorded and may lead to the test being closed, which is considered a disqualification. Your test will be invalidated if you receive three (3) alerts for disturbing behaviour.
9. Disturbing behaviour, an attempt to cheat, cheating, soliciting the help of someone else, or sharing test content through social media during the test, any form of screen capture, recording or copying of the test contents will result in your test’s invalidation.
10. The Admissions Board reserves the right to invalidate your test if it deems your webcam is malfunctioning, damaged or impaired, the camera is partially or fully covered during the test, or if your image is obscure.
You are allowed:

3. To use the Periodic Table sent by the University. Print the documents. Any time You want to use it – show it to the camera.
Suppose your competency test session was disqualified due to an apparent infringement of the regulations resulting in a fail grade. In that case, you have the right to appeal the decision and add your explanations to the issue. The appeal should be sent by email to recruitment.dentistry@wum.edu.pl on the fifth working day from the date of the examination at the latest. Each appeal will be reviewed together with the recording of your examination session and reassessed. You will receive a final judgment on the issue within one week.
